Amplifon France and the reConnect Institut, combine their expertises to improve care for patients with hearing loss

Paris, June 17, 2025 – Amplifon, France's leading network of hearing aid specialists, announces its collaboration with the reConnect Institute, a foundation under the aegis of the Pasteur Institute.  


By using data collected in routine clinical practice from tens of thousands of patients fitted with hearing aids at Amplifon centers in France, the collaboration aims to advance research and clinical practices in the diagnosis and care of patients with hearing disorders.  


In particular, it will enable the development of scientifically validated fitting methods tailored to each patient's hearing profile. 


1) Enriching research conducted by the reConnect Institute at the Hearing Institute, part of the Pasteur Institute, with the Amplifon database  


The BIG DATA AP research project is being conducted by the reConnect University Hospital Institute at the Center for Research and Innovation in Human Audiology (CeRIAH, directed by Prof. Paul Avan) at the Hearing Institute, part of the Pasteur Institute. It aims to improve the care pathway of hearing aid users (HA) by leveraging audiological data collected across Amplifon’s nationwide network of hearing aid specialists in France. 


2) Improving hearing care by developing assessment tools and fitting methodologies tailored to each patient  

Under the scientific supervision of Prof. Hung Thai-Van, co-director of the center and president of the 2024 World Congress of Audiology, this research aims to: Ø T Highlight factors that predict the effectiveness of hearing aids, taking into account the patient’s hearing profile and demographic characteristics Ø T Assess the value of measuring speech understanding in noise, in order to refine indications and evaluate the effectiveness of hearing aids. Ø Determine the contribution of PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) surveys in characterizing patient needs and objectively assessing the effectiveness of care. 


Improving Amplifon's fitting methods based on scientific results from the reConnect Institute at CeRIAH  


Amplifon will build on the scientific results of the BIG DATA AP project to validate new fitting methodologies adapted to different hearing profiles. This work will help identify patients for whom alternative or complementary approaches to conventional hearing aids may be more appropriate, thus providing a personalized and optimized solution for each patient. 

“This collaboration with the ReConnect Institute, a foundation under the aegis of the Pasteur Institute, marks a key milestone for Amplifon, extending the data analysis work we have been conducting for several years. It allows us to optimize our fitting tools and protocols, making them ever more effective for patients through a scientifically validated approach,” comments Fabien Auberger, Director of Health Strategy at Amplifon. 


Thanks to these results, Amplifon hearing aid specialists will be able to draw on the experience gained from tens of thousands of fittings carried out each year, enabling them to offer solutions better tailored to the needs of each patient.

A propos de l'Institut reConnect

Créé en avril 2024, l’Institut reConnect fédère les acteurs clés de la santé auditive et des troubles de la parole pour améliorer leur détection et leur prise en charge. Pôle d’excellence dans ce domaine, il vise à compléter une médecine compensatrice d’une médecine réparatrice au cours de la prochaine décennie grâce aux découvertes scientifiques réalisées au cours des vingt dernières années dans le domaine de la génétique et des neurosciences.
