Paris, June 17, 2025 – Amplifon, France’s leading network of hearing care professionals, announces its partnership with the reConnect Institute, a foundation under the auspices of Institut Pasteur.
By leveraging data collected in routine clinical practice from tens of thousands of patients fitted with hearing aids at Amplifon centers in France, the goal of this collaboration is to advance research and clinical practices in the diagnosis and care of patients with hearing loss.
In particular, it will enable the development of hearing aid fitting methods with scientifically validated effectiveness, tailored to each patient’s hearing profile.
Enhance the research conducted by the reConnect Institute at Hearing Institute, a center of Institut Pasteur the Amplifon database
The BIG DATA AP research project is led by the reConnect University Hospital Institute at the Center for Research and Innovation in Human Audiology (CeRIAH, directed by Prof. Paul AVAN) of Hearing Institute, a center of Institut Pasteur. It aims to improve the patient journey for hearing aid users (HAU) by leveraging audiological data collected across the entire Amplifon network of French hearing care professionals.
Improving hearing care by developing assessment tools and hearing aid fitting methodologies tailored to each patient
Under the scientific supervision of Prof. Hung THAI-VAN, co-director of the center and president of the 2024 World Congress of Audiology, this research aims to achieve the following objectives:
Identify predictors of hearing aid effectiveness, taking into account the patient’s hearing profile and demographic characteristics
To assess the value of measuring speech recognition in noise, in order to refine recommendations and evaluate the effectiveness of hearing aids.
To determine the value of PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) in identifying patient needs and objectively assessing the effectiveness of their care.
Improving Amplifon’s hearing aid fitting methods based on scientific findings from the reConnect Institute at CeRIAH
Amplifon will draw on the scientific findings of the BIG DATA AP project to scientifically validate new hearing aid fitting methodologies tailored to different hearing profiles. This work will help identify patients for whom an alternative or complementary approach to conventional hearing aids would be more appropriate, thereby offering a personalized and optimized solution for each patient.
