Can we restore hearing and balance by correcting the genetic cause of the disease?

The project will develop next-generation AAV gene therapy and precision genome editing for Usher syndrome, building on unique humanized mouse models and robust in vivo proof-of-concept data. The successful candidate will investigate how therapeutic efficacy, timing of intervention, and long-term safety determine functional recovery of the inner ear.

Responsibilities/Activities

🔬 Founded in April 2024, the reConnect Institute brings together key stakeholders in the fields of hearing health, cognitive disorders, and speech disorders to improve their detection and management.
This position is being created to support the new Audiology Research Center (CreA) at Necker Hospital under the auspices of the reConnect IHU. Its mission is to treat hearing and speech disorders.
Initial 18-month fixed-term contract (CDD-OD). Position based at Necker Hospital.

This position is being created to support the new Audiology Research Centers (CreA) at Necker and Pitié-Salpêtrière under the auspices of the reConnect Institute.
Initial 18-month fixed-term contract (CDD-OD). Maximum gross annual salary of €40,000.
Position based at three sites: Necker Enfants Malades Hospital – AP-HP, Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital – AP-HP, and the campus of theInstitut Pasteur.

Qualifications:
General engineer with expertise in the fields of biomedicine, signal processing, electrical engineering, and telecommunications, with an interest in healthcare (hearing) and innovation.
