Anne-Lise Giraud Awarded the CNRS Silver Medal

Anne-Lise Giraud, a research director at the CNRS and director of the reConnect Institute andHearing Institute, is among the 2025 recipients of the CNRS Silver Medal. This award recognizes the quality and significance of her work within the French and international scientific communities. The medal ceremony, organized by the CNRS Ile-de-France Meudon Delegation, took place on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., in the presence of Catherine Larroche, regional delegate and representative of the CNRS General Directorate. The medal was presented to Anne-Lise Giraud by Christian MUCHARDT, Deputy Scientific Director of CNRS Biology.

As a specialist in the neuroscience of language, Anne-Lise Giraud has made significant contributions to our understanding of how the brain processes speech. Her research has revealed that our brain decodes language through the synchronization of various neural oscillations.



Describing this mechanism helps us better understand how we make sense of sounds and gain a deeper understanding of language disorders such as dyslexia, aphasia, and autism.


Today, she is focused on developing new strategies for language rehabilitation through neurostimulation and brain-machine interfaces, as well as on the genetic foundations of language development in humans. 


“This award recognizes years of research in the field of cognitive neuroscience, particularly on the neural mechanisms of hearing and language. A huge thank you to all my colleagues, students, and supporters who help make this scientific journey possible every day,” she said upon the announcement.
