In June, the reConnect Institute was pleased to welcome about ten high school students in their sophomore year from the Île-de-France region as part of their observational internship. These two weeks gave them the opportunity to discover the full richness of the ecosystem that enables scientific research to advance every day.
Beyond the laboratories and research activities, the students met the many teams that contribute to the Institute’s operations: security, communications, administration, project management, and more. This immersive experience demonstrated that every scientific breakthrough is the result of teamwork.
The high school students also had the opportunity to visit the Center for Research and Innovation in Human Audiology, located on theInstitut Pasteur campus,Institut Pasteur learn about the wide range of activities conducted there and the facilities designed for people with hearing and speech-language disorders.
Throughout these fifteen days, discussions with our teams focused on the challenges facing research today, potential career paths, and the skills needed to contribute to scientific innovation.
Social impact is at the heart of the Institute’s activities, which make its expertise available to everyone. Through this immersive experience, the teams sparked the interns’ curiosity by seeking to broaden their perspective on careers in science, with the hope of inspiring some of them to pursue such careers.
The organizers of this two-week event would like to thank all the staff members who took the time to share their passion and their profession with this new generation.
