Oticon, a global leader in hearing innovation, announces the signing of a sponsorship agreement with the reConnect Institute, a scientific organization dedicated to hearing and speech disorders. This partnership symbolizes a pioneering commitment to both fundamental and translational research on hearing disorders with a shared ambition to transform the lives of people with hearing loss. Oticon thus becomes the first sponsor of the reConnect Institute.

According to the WHO, one in four people worldwide is expected to have hearing problems by 2050. France is fully committed to developing an ambitious public policy on hearing health, as demonstrated by the launch of the reConnect Institute, a university hospital institute dedicated to advancing hearing medicine from its current compensatory approach to a regenerative one. Oticon shares this vision with the reConnect Institute, placing the quality of life of people with hearing loss at the center of its mission. Its ambition is to ensure that hearing loss is no longer a barrier,allowing those affected to live the life they want.
A sponsorship project bringing together two players in the hearing sector
The partnership between these two players in the hearing sector is part of a drive to improve the quality of life of people with hearing loss through fundamental research, clinical research, and cooperation. In this context, Oticon supports the reConnect Institute, whose teams are organized into 11 project groups spread across three sites in Paris and its partner hospitals. This philanthropic partnership contributes to the reConnect Institute's efforts to unite stakeholders in the hearing sector and supports its research initiatives.
Oticon, a patron for research and hearing health
Oticon has an independent research center in Eriksholm, Denmark, and invests 7% of its annual revenue in R&D. The company has been committed to fundamental research and transforming healthcare pathways for nearly 50 years. This sponsorship project is part of a desire to support scientific institutions and contribute to innovation in hearing health.
"This partnership with the reConnect Institute is a natural fit for us. It reflects our longstanding commitment to fundamental research and our desire to contribute to humane, accurate, and innovative hearing healthcare. The reConnect Institute shares our belief: science and technology should serve humanity. Together, we are working toward a society where everyone can live their life as they choose, without hearing loss being an obstacle," comments Christophe Aubert, Director of Oticon France.
“By becoming a patron, Oticon is actively contributing to the momentum of hearing healthcare based on science, innovation, and the public interest. This philanthropic partnership illustrates the ability of industrial actors to work alongside institutions to address a major public health issue,” emphasizes Anne-Lise Giraud, Director of the reConnect Institute.
Three areas of research supported over three years
Oticon is particularly committed to supporting several areas of research explored by the reConnect Institute. Topics that give meaning to the brand's core beliefs and values and have always been part of its vision for audiology. These areas offer the prospect of concrete advances for patients in the coming years:
-Hearing aids of tomorrow: development of smart, adaptive devices incorporating AI and biomarkers;
-Hearing and cognition: studying the interactions between hearing loss, executive functions, and cognitive decline;
-Tinnitus therapies: exploration of non-invasive solutions, neurostimulation, and digital therapies.
By supporting fundamental research, Oticon is helping to build a more inclusive society where everyone can hear, understand, and connect. This partnership is part of a long-term commitment to serving future generations.
