On June 17, 2026, the reConnect Institute, the Brain&Mind biocluster, and the AP-HP inaugurated the NULISA™ ultra-sensitive clinical proteomics platform at Lariboisière Hospital - Fernand-Widal AP-HP, in the presence of Nicolas Revel, CEO of AP-HP; Claire Paquet, scientific director of the reConnect Institute—a foundation under the auspices ofInstitut Pasteur—and a neurologist at the hospital; and Alexis Génin, CEO of Brain&Mind. Teams across the entire Brain&Mind community—which includes the reConnect University Hospital Institute and the AP-HP—will now be able to leverage this cutting-edge technology to characterize, with unprecedented sensitivity, the circulating biomarker profiles of patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders or sensory impairments.
What is the NULISA™ Clinical Proteomics Platform?
As part of the reConnect Institute at Lariboisière-Fernand-Widal Hospital (AP-HP), the NULISA™ clinical proteomics platform addresses major challenges in translational and clinical research by enabling ultra-sensitive, multiplexed profiling of protein biomarkers from biological samples in limited quantities. It supports projects in neurology, psychiatry, and sensory disorders by providing advanced tools for biomarker discovery and validation, as well as for patient stratification, thereby facilitating the translation of basic research into clinical applications.
NULISA™ technology is based on a sequential process of capturing and releasing immunocomplexes, combined with next-generation sequencing (NGS). This approach enables the simultaneous quantification of hundreds of low-abundance proteins with femtomolar-level sensitivity—surpassing conventional immunoassays—using a small sample volume. Particularly well-suited for clinical cohorts, longitudinal studies, and precious samples such as plasma or cerebrospinal fluid, the NULISA™ platform remains rare in France. Its implementation positions the reConnect Institute as a national center of excellence in proteomics applied to neuroscience.
The acquisition of the platform was supported by funding from the Brain & Mind biocluster, reflecting a shared strategic commitment to strengthening clinical research on biomarkers. This funding enabled the installation of the platform at the reConnect Institute on the Lariboisière–Fernand-Widal AP-HP hospital campus and the hiring of a dedicated technician for a two-year term. The platform is designed to serve the entire reConnect Institute community while fostering academic and industrial collaborations.
Open Science
The NULISA™ platform will operate as a shared infrastructure within the reConnect Institute. Priority access will be granted to Brain & Mind staff and the Institute’s projects. External academic and industrial partnerships will contribute to the platform’s sustainability by covering operating costs and ensuring its long-term maintenance and development.
Brain & Mind is also launching a comprehensive program to support “open science” research in clinical proteomics. This program includes, in particular, support for sample analysis and the development of a secure bioinformatics environment open to all members of its community.
The Paris Brain&Mind Grand Opening Symposium: a groundbreaking event held in March 2026 that marked the launch of the platform
During the event, held at the Institut de l'Audition—part of the reConnect Institute—members of the neuroscience research community expressed interest in the capabilities offered by NULISA™ technology and its potential for neurological research. Promising results were presented during talks by experts such as Sylvain Lehmann, Professor of Biochemistry at University of Montpellier, and Ed Bullmore, Regius Professor of Psychiatry at King’s College London. The event concluded with a presentation by the platform’s directors, Dr. Elodie Amar, a biochemist, and Dr. Agathe Vrillon, a neurologist at Lariboisière-Fernand Widal Hospital (AP-HP).

About the reConnect Institute
Founded in April 2024, the reConnect Institute brings together key stakeholders in the fields of hearing health, cognitive disorders, and speech disorders to improve their detection and management. As a center of excellence in this field, it aims to complement compensatory medicine with restorative medicine over the next decade, drawing on scientific discoveries made over the past twenty years in the fields of genetics and neuroscience. The reConnect University Hospital Institute is a foundation under the auspices ofInstitut Pasteur, led by the Institut de l’Audition—a center ofInstitut Pasteur —Institut Pasteur the Fondation Pour l’Audition, the AP-HP, Paris Cité University, and Inserm, which are founding members of the Institute.
About Brain&Mind
Brain&Mind is the French biocluster dedicated to neuroscience. Its mission is to use its technology platforms and R&D services to promote the development of new products and services in the field of brain and sensory disorders. Startups, investors, industry partners, and patient organizations are all actively involved in the project, alongside France’s leading research centers and hospitals.
About the AP-HP
As Europe’s leading university hospital system (CHU), AP-HP is at the forefront of clinical research in France. Its 38 hospitals are organized into six university hospital groups (AP-HP. Centre – Université Paris Cité; AP-HP. Nord – Université Paris Cité; AP-HP. Sorbonne Université; AP-HP. Université Paris-Saclay; AP-HP. Henri-Mondor University Hospitals; and AP-HP. Paris Seine-Saint-Denis University Hospitals), which have agreements with seven universities in the Île-de-France region. Closely linked to major research organizations, the AP-HP comprises 25 university hospital federations (FHU), 8 world-class university hospital institutes (IHU) (ICM, ICAN, IMAGINE, FOReSIGHT, IHU SEPSIS, Institut du Cerveau de l’Enfant, reConnect, Institut de la Leucémie Paris Saint-Louis), 4 integrated cancer research sites (SIRIC), including 1 pediatric site, as well as the largest health data repository (EDS) in France. A major player in applied research and innovation in healthcare, the AP-HP holds a portfolio of 920 active patents; its clinician-researchers author nearly 11,000 scientific publications each year, and more than 2,500 studies sponsored by the AP-HP are currently underway. In 2020, the AP-HP was awarded the Institut Carnot designation, which recognizes the quality of its collaborative research: Carnot@AP-HP offers industry partners solutions in applied and clinical research in the field of healthcare. In addition, the AP-HP Foundation works alongside patients, healthcare providers, and researchers to advance the medicine of the future, placing people at the heart of the hospital and promoting health for all. www.aphp.fr
