Over the course of two days, the conference will explore the mechanisms of vertigo, ranging from the brain’s vestibular networks to clinical manifestations. The program will cover visuovestibular integration, vestibular functions from the neuron to behavior, and the encoding of movements through the vestibular pathways. The conference will also highlight therapeutic innovations. A roundtable discussion will focus on bilateral vestibular deficit and the prospects for a vestibular implant, while a session will explore the role of artificial intelligence, big data, and digital platforms in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with vertigo.
Several contributors from the reConnect Institute will be among the speakers: Aziz El Amraoui, Saaid Safieddine, Audrey Maudoux, Sandrine Vitry, Daniel Lévy, Charlotte Hautefort, Cassandre Djian, Natalie Loundon, and François Simon (co-organizer of the event). Most of the presentations by the Institute’s experts will focus on genetics and the therapies of the future. The innovation workshops will showcase practical applications of virtual reality, digital monitoring tools, and augmented reality in vestibular rehabilitation.
This inaugural conference provides an opportunity to learn about the IREV’s structure—centered around eight centers in Reims, Toulouse, Paris, Marseille, Dijon, Caen, Lyon, and Strasbourg—and the research being conducted at each of these centers. With this first conference, the IREV aims to create a forum for dialogue between basic research, innovation, and clinical practice in order to better understand the vestibular system and advance patient care.
